Завод за производство на калиев сулфат

Potassium sulfate is an important chemical product commonly used in fertilizer production, glass industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing and other industrial uses. Plants that manufacture this compound typically include production lines such as feedstock handling, reactors, crystallizers, and drying equipment. It is produced by reacting sulfuric acid with potassium hydroxide, and then undergoes a crystallization and drying process to obtain the finished product. The manufacture of this compound requires precise process control to ensure product quality and yield.

Potassium sulfate, whether agricultural or industrial grade, typically appears as colorless or white crystals, particles, or powder. It possesses a bitter taste, but is odorless and hard in quality. It is stable in air, soluble in water, with approximately 1g dissolving in 8.3ml of water at room temperature. However, it is insoluble in ethanol and exhibits increased solubility in the presence of ammonium sulfate. Its aqueous solution is neutral with a pH around 7, and it has a relative density of 2.66. Additionally, it has a high melting point of 1067 degree .

Potassium sulfate is typically manufactured through the reaction between potassium chloride (KCl) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in a process known as the Mannheim Furnace method. This reaction yields potassium sulfate as the main product and hydrochloric acid as a by-product. The production line equipment includes facilities for handling raw materials, reaction vessels (such as Mannheim Furnaces), and processes for crystallization and drying to obtain the final product.

The molecular formula of potassium sulfate is K2SO4, indicating that each molecule contains two potassium (K) atoms, one sulfur (S) atom, and four oxygen (O) atoms. The molecular weight of potassium sulfate is calculated as 174.26 g/mol.

Potassium sulfate demonstrates limited solubility characteristics. Approximately 1g of potassium sulfate can dissolve in 8.3ml of water at room temperature, and 4ml in boiling water. However, it is insoluble in ethanol. The presence of ammonium sulfate can enhance its solubility in water, but it remains almost insoluble in a saturated solution of ammonium sulfate.

Potassium sulfate manufacturing plants typically have a production capacity ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 tons per year. This capacity can vary depending on factors such as plant size, technological efficiency, and market demand for potassium sulfate products.
